Ole School Sports Pub and Grill and Sunken City Brewing Company are partnering up on Saturdays to bring barbecue to a new brewery in the Westlake area.
Ron Stone, one of the owners of Ole School Sports Pub on Burnt Chimney Road in Wirtz, said the pub will bring its smoker and serve barbecue on Sunken City’s patio from about noon until the food runs out.
On June 22, Stone and an employee served the crowd plates of two barbecue-pulled pork sliders and chips for $5.
“It’s been smoking all day,” Stone said.
Stone and Jerome Parnell III, owner of Sunken City, said they are looking forward to the collaboration. They said they expect it to benefit both businesses, because Sunken City only sells chips, and the pub gets exposure to new customers.
The pub opened about a year and a half ago, and Sunken City opened its doors in May.
The pub is located in the old Dudley Mart & Restaurant. It hosts events such as corn hole and pool tournaments and live music every night of the week except on Mondays, when it’s closed.
The brewing company, which has held events on the weekends, recently started canning its craft beer. Parnell said that on a recent Friday evening, 70 six-packs were sold onsite.
“We can’t keep enough cans in the house,” he said.
