It’s nearly the end of February and I am proud to say I am still sticking with my New Year’s resolution to increase my daily exercise.
If you need motivation to keep going (or to finally start), here’s an event that will not only help your fitness goal, but will also help shelter pets here in Roanoke.
The Roanoke Valley SPCA will hold its first “Tail Chaser 5K … Running for Their Lives” fundraiser on March 30. The run will begin at Roanoke’s Wasena Park to River’s Edge and back and it will be timed.
If you are like me and can’t run (my replacement knee is apparently NOT bionic), then the One Mile Black Dog Salvage Walk will allow you to stroll from Wasena Park to Vic Thomas Park and back.
Friendly, leashed canine companions can accompany you (proof of vaccinations will be required at check-in.)
Visit www.rvspca.org for more information or go to www.firstgiving.com/4419_1/tail-chaser-5k to register.
