The "Live in HD" broadcasts from New York's Metropolitan Opera resume tomorrow at Virginia Western Community College's Whitman Theatre.
At 12:55 p.m., viewers will get to see a live feed of the Met's critically acclaimed production of Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin ," starring Russian soprano Anna Netrebko .
Based on the eponymous novel by Alexander Pushkin , the opera tells the tale of an arrogant socialite who spurns the woman he later realizes is the love of his life.
Come early and you'll hear Opera Roanoke's Scott Williamson talk about the opera and what lies ahead in the 2013-14 "Live in HD" season.
To get the $21.50 tickets in advance, though, you'll need to visit Jefferson Center's website. Tickets can be purchased at the Whitman Theatre the day of the showing, but will no longer be sold through Virginia Western's website. Tickets for senior citizens are $19.50.
Opera Roanoke is excited about the arrangement with Jefferson Center to sell "Live in HD" tickets, Williamson said. He noted that tickets for Opera Roanoke's stage productions are already sold through Jefferson Center.
