Roanoke’s annual GO Outside Festival, aka GOFest, has a little bit of everything a person can do outdoors (and some things a dog can do). That includes camping, a bicycle course, a big pool for kayaks and paddle boards, another pool for fly-casting, disc golf, hula-hooping, slacklining, wall-climbing — even dog-jumping.
And, as usual, music will be part of it.
On Friday, Roanoke-based reggae blasters Lazy Man Dub Band bring their dank grooves during two late afternoon / early evening sets that will help usher in the folks with outdoor interests. On Saturday, Charlottesville-area folk-grass country-rockers Hacksensaw Boys play an 8 p.m. set. DJs will spin music the rest of the weekend.
Beer from Salem-based Parkway Brewing Co. and central Virginia’s Starr Hill Brewery and Bold Rock Hard Cider will be there, along with Klean Kanteen water stations, so you don’t get too sloppy around all the outdoor gear demonstrations.
