Area viewers watching the end of the Miami-San Antonio game on WSET (Channel 13) on Thursday night saw their screen take on a bluish tint.
WSET news director Bill Foy said Friday that the ABC affiliate had a technical problem that affected the color for the final minutes of the game and the postgame show.
A station employee had to return to work to fix the problem, which did not originate with ABC.
“We have … this system [that] preps the video signal to go to air. … An encoder card in the system failed,” Foy said.
“They re-set it as soon as the postgame was over.”
The Heat’s Game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs drew the second-highest preliminary television rating for the NBA Finals on ABC since the network took over the series in 2003.
