Radford police seek 4 men after report of shoplifting
Monday, March 4, 2013
Radford police are searching for four men wanted in a weekend shoplifting case, authorities said.
Lt. Andy Wilburn said officers were called at 2 a.m. Saturday to the 300 block of Tyler Avenue for a report of shoplifting at a 7-Eleven convenience store.
Wilburn said a store employee confronted one suspect in the parking lot and retrieved the unidentified stolen item. The employee told officers the man then lifted up his shirt to reveal the grip of a handgun in his waistband.
The gun was not pointed at the employee, police said.
Wilburn said three other men accompanied the initial suspect.
“We believe the subjects may have attended a concert at the Bondurant Center that evening,” he said in a statement.
All four were described as being between 20 and 28 years old. One wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray pants and possibly a red hat. Another wore a red T-shirt, a toboggan hat and long dreadlocks. A third wore a plaid shirt and a black toboggan hat. The fourth had a red hat and a black hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Radford Police Department at 731-5040.
