A man accused of forcing his way into a home in the 400 block of White Avenue early Wednesday morning has been charged with assault and burglary, Roanoke police said.
Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said officers responded to the home at 3:59 a.m. A 67-year-old man had been assaulted by someone who forced his way into the house, she said. Two other men in the house came to his aid and struggled with the intruder, who was stabbed in the process, she said.
Joshua Eugene Andrews, 23, of Vinton was charged in the incident and was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with stab wounds. Hospital spokesman Eric Earnhart did not have any information on his condition.
Johnson said the investigation is ongoing.
