An apartment fire displaced three people in Roanoke early Saturday morning.
Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury said firefighters responded to a call shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Chapman Avenue Southwest. She said the fire was under control by 2:20 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the second-story attic, she said, and three adults were displaced.
No injuries were reported, but the fire caused $55,000 in damage , Bradbury said. The Red Cross reported that the fire affected two units, and the organization is assisting the displaced people.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
