UPDATE May 24: Botetourt County woman killed, estranged husband later found dead
Botetourt County authorities responded to a report of a shooting a few minutes after 8 p.m. Thursday.
After arriving in the 4600 block of Carvins Cove Road, Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle confirmed there was a deceased, middle-aged white woman discovered on the front porch of a two-story home.
Sprinkle would not confirm how she died or if foul play was suspected.
By 11 p.m., investigators were still at the scene and the property where the body was found was roped off by police tape.
Sprinkle said the investigation is still taking place and more information will be released Friday morning.
