A hole closed a lane of traffic in U.S. 460 near Bedford on Sunday.

Authorities blocked the right lane of U.S. 460 east of Bedford Sunday evening because of a hole in the pavement.
Eastbound traffic was able to move in the left lane, said Brandon Crouch, a firefighter at the Bedford Fire Department.
In a news release issued later Sunday night, the Virginia Department of Transportation said the hole is about 5 feet wide and 6 feet deep. It may have been caused by a pipe failure under the road. Crews were repairing the road and trying to determine its cause tonight, the release said.
The release said the right lane on U.S. 460 will remain closed through today. VDOT’s 511 website said motorists could expect delays until 6 p.m. Monday.
