A Halifax County man was jailed on three boating-related violations early Thursday after he ran his boat into a dock on Smith Mountain Lake.
Sgt. Karl Martin of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said the 62-year-old man was charged with operating a boat under the influence of alcohol, failing to report the accident and leaving the scene.
Martin said he didn't have immediate access to the operator's identification papers.
A female passenger on the boat was treated for a head injury but was not taken to a hospital, Martin said.
The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Bull Run Creek area near Penhook.
Officers found the boat about two hours later at a residence about a mile from the crash.
The collision damaged two personal watercraft and a pontoon boat at the dock, Martin said.
A neighbor heard the crash and reported it, Martin said.
