Three weather-related crashes slowed traffic on Interstate 81 on Saturday.
Virginia State Police responded to a reported tractor-trailer crash on I-81 shortly after 3:30 p.m. The incident occurred in the south lane near mile marker 170 in Botetourt County.
There was previous traffic congestion from a wreck that occurred near mile marker 168 shortly after 3 p.m. and another crash in the median in the same area two hours after that one.
The accidents were all cleared up by 7 p.m., but they caused traffic congestion in the area for most of the evening. Traffic was backed up for almost 5 miles about 6 p.m.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Rob Carpentieri said all three were weather- related, and there were no injuries.
