A body that was discovered in a car at a Roanoke condominium complex on Saturday has been identified as Daniel Harb Rank, 28, of Goode, police said Tuesday.
Roanoke police spokesman Scott Leamon said the car in which Rank was found , a black Mazda 3, belongs to him. There is no indication of foul play at this time, he said, but investigators are awaiting a toxicology report before making a firm decision on the case.
Roanoke police responded to a call at around noon Saturday at Southview Condominiums on Peters Creek Road, where a body was found in the back seat of a car. The area around the car was roped off for most of the day Saturday while police investigated.
Several people living in the complex said they had seen the black Mazda parked in the same spot for several days, and some described a bad smell days before the body was found.
Neighbors said a woman called police after she parked her car next to the Mazda and saw the body on Saturday morning. Police are still investigating.
