A motorcycle wreck in Rockbridge County sent four people to the hospital Wednesday.
Police were called to a wreck at 2:40 p.m. on U.S. 11 at the Exit 180 interchange in Rockbridge County, according to Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri.
The investigation revealed that a 2013 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide motorcycle was headed north on U.S. 11 when the driver approached a highway work zone. The driver slowed down suddenly when he saw a flagman stopping traffic and was rear-ended by another motorcycle, a 2012 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide, Carpentieri said.
He said the driver of the motorcycle that was rear-ended, Wayne A. Brown, 65, of Roanoke, was sent to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington and so was his passenger, Curtina Brown, 54, of Roanoke.
The driver of the 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Charles Perdue, 61, of Goodview, was also sent to the hospital. His passenger, Diana Perdue, 49, of Goodview, was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital , Carpentieri said.
Police said everyone was wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
