A Roanoke police officer and another person were taken to the hospital after a car wreck Friday afternoon in northwest Roanoke.
Police were called to the 3600 block of Williamson Road near Oakland Boulevard about 3:15 p.m. for a traffic incident, according to police spokesman Scott Leamon. He said a female motorist was driving south on Williamson Road and, when she turned, collided with a marked patrol car heading north. The patrol car then veered into a truck that was parked off the road, he said.
The female driver and the officer who was driving the patrol car were taken to a local hospital. Leamon said the nature of their injuries was unknown at this time .
The wreck closed a portion of Williamson Road for several hours . The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed.
