Fire and smoke damaged equipment at a Roanoke bakery early Tuesday morning, leaving half a dozen people with minor injuries.
Six people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to a Roanoke Fire-EMS news release. No one was taken to the hospital.
Firefighters responded to Maple Leaf Bakery in the 1900 block of Blue Hills Drive Northeast around 4:50 a.m., according to the release. They found smoke in the building and a fire in the insulation in one of the industrial ovens used to bake bread.
The incident caused about $50,000 in damage to the equipment and $25,000 in lost production time, according to the release.
Investigators did not say if the fire’s cause had been determined.
