Optima Health and Roanoke-based Delta Dental of Virginia are teaming up to offer an insurance plan that provides dental benefits for small businesses.
The option offers dental insurance that can be purchased at the same time as other health insurance products, with a 5 percent discount on Delta rates when partnered with an Optima product.
In announcing the plan Friday, the two companies said it offers a needed option to small-business employers looking for the convenience of bundled insurance arrangements, cost savings and access to the largest dental networks in the state.
Based in Virginia Beach, Optima provides health insurance to more than 450,000 members in Virginia. Optima entered the Roanoke and New River Valley markets in 2011.
Delta Dental provides employee dental benefits through a variety of plans covering more than 1.8 million individuals in nearly 3,800 groups.
