The State Corporation Commission has hearings planned on Appalachian Power Co.'s proposed rate increase.
Tuesday, April 30, 2013
August hearings are set on proposed rate increases sought by Appalachian Power Co.
The State Corporation Commission said Monday that it will hold a hearing Aug. 28 on the utility's request to recover more than $11 million in costs associated with its natural gas-fired power plant in Dresden, Ohio. The deadline for public comments is Aug. 21.
Appalachian also is seeking to recover more than $38 million associated with installing equipment to meet state and federal environmental requirements. A hearing on that rate increase proposal is scheduled for Aug. 29. The deadline for public comments is Aug. 22.
If approved, the requests would amount to a 1.5 percent increase in the average rate for residential customers, once existing surcharges expire.
Both hearings will be held in the SCC's courtroom in downtown Richmond.
