Double Apple, a Mediterranean restaurant that opened two years ago on Brambleton Avenue, is opening two cafes with hookah lounges in Roanoke.
Hookah Land Cafe will open next month at the Williamson Road Plaza, said owner Mahmoud "Joe" Migdadi. He plans to open another cafe and lounge in downtown Roanoke in a few months. He said he hopes to sign a lease for a space near the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Market Street.
The cafes will serve Mediterranean- and American-style sandwiches and desserts as well as smoothies, he said.
Migdadi said his expansion plans are largely in response to his customers' requests. Lunch customers have told him that they would like to have a downtown location, while customers of the hookah lounge have asked Migdadi to consider opening on Williamson Road.
