Single-vehicle wreck kills 1 in Montgomery County

A Christiansburg man was killed Friday in a single-vehicle wreck in Montgomery County.
Robert R. Custer, 48, was driving west on Spaulding Road, near Walton Road, in a 1991 Ford Ranger when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and struck a tree, according to a news release from the county sheriff’s office.
Police received a call about the wreck at 8:46 a.m.
Custer was the only person inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, according to the release.
