Virginia Tech police have identified the student found dead in his dorm room Thursday.
Maj. Gene Deisinger said there is no indication that intentional harm was inflicted on Bryan D. Baugh, 20, of Carlisle, Pa.
“There is nothing to indicate suicide or homicide at this point,” Deisinger said. “But the investigation is ongoing.”
According to a news release from the university, a resident adviser in Newman Hall found Baugh in his dorm room shortly before 5:25 p.m. Baugh had not been seen for about a day.
Virginia Tech police and rescue squads responded, and Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation, according to the release.
“There is nothing to lead us to believe any criminal actions were involved,” Deisinger said.
Deisinger did not elaborate on the cause of death. A medical examiner will need to make that determination, he said.
