A man was hit by a pickup truck and killed Tuesday night in Christiansburg, according to a police news release.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was walking in the 2700 block of Roanoke Street just before 11:30 p.m. when an eastbound Ford F-350 truck struck him. The man died at the scene, according to the release.
The victim was wearing a black jacket and dark jeans, and though the investigation is ongoing, police do not believe the driver of the truck saw the man before he was struck, according to the release.
The driver of the truck, who police did not name, stopped at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor for the driver, and no charges have been filed at this time, the release stated.
The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of his family.
