Two men have been charged with breaking and entering after Blacksburg police located stolen items in a vehicle.
According to a news release, Blacksburg police responded Monday at 10:40 a.m. to a call at the 400 block of Roanoke Street Southeast about a suspicious vehicle occupied by two male subjects.
A police K-9 alerted officers to search the vehicle, and while officers were conducting that search, a nearby resident approached and told the officers that his residence had been burglarized, according to the release.
Some of the property located in the vehicle had been stolen from a nearby residence, the release stated.
Shane Derek Owen, 27, of Blacksburg and Justin Wayne Thompson, 27, of Christiansburg were arrested and charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony. Owen was also charged with possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, according to the release.
Both were being held Tuesday afternoon on a $5,000 secured bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
