The Virginia Department of Health scheduled the first round of school-based clinics in Roanoke County to vaccinate youngsters against the 2009 H1N1 flu virus.

According to the school system's Web site, both the nasal mist and the injection will be available.

Students at Oak Grove Elementary School who are eligible for the vaccine and whose parents completed the proper paperwork are scheduled to receive the vaccine Friday. Clinics are slated for next week at Mount Pleasant, W.E. Cundiff and Fort Lewis elementary schools.

Information about additional clinics will be posted online at rcs.k12.va.us, and information will be disseminated via the InstantAlert telephone notification system.

Students in Craig, Floyd, Giles and Montgomery counties received the swine flu vaccine last month before the supply dwindled.
