To the members of the Congress of the United States,
Well, here we are at the first day of the new federal fiscal year. As I look out over the landscape at a beautiful, crisp autumn day, I want to feel joy because there’s a lot to be joyful about.
But effective this morning, portions of the federal government are shut down because you people can’t find a way to compromise or reach common goals for the good of the majority of Americans.
Thankfully, the military is intact, the mail is being delivered and Social Security checks are being printed. However, while your salaries continue, some federal workers are involuntarily home from their jobs because you all can’t get along.
What’s the matter with you people? Didn’t your mothers teach you that you occasionally had to share your toys? Maybe if you all had a spanking and a nap, you’d wake up with a better collective attitude.
Are you all so used to getting your own way that you can’t lift your eyes to see your fellow man?
What sense does it make for people who are drawing government salaries to shut down the government?
I would make two stipulations for those who voted to shut things down. Your salaries should stop immediately. That’s what you voted for, that’s what you should get.
Then, you should be exempted from the privilege of re-election. You’ve proven that you care more for yourself than for others, which shows that you’re unqualified to hold public office.
You should have been excused from office as soon as your shutdown vote was cast, and your place taken by a person whose vision is greater than yours.
When writing items for publication, it is wise to write, then set the document aside for later review to make sure that truth is being expressed rather than raw emotion. Y’know what?
When I get to the bottom of this letter, I’m just gonna push <SEND>. Deal with it, senators and congresspersons. How do you like being on the receiving end of the same rant that you’re dishing out? Has this made anything better?
And neither have you. You’ve just damaged our country and done it harm. And you’ve made me mad.
I’m tired of casting my vote for “least-poor” candidates. I’m tired of rhetoric without reform.
This is supposed to be a representative form of government, but ladies and gentlemen, I do not feel represented by you, your attitudes or your actions.
Go fix yourselves so that you can help fix what’s wrong with our government, or go home.
