Re: Bill Bushong’s letter (“Goodlatte’s wrong on renewable fuel,” April 19):
It’s good to hear that our representative in Washington is trying to fix this broken ethanol policy.
I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t make sense to me to put more corn into gas tanks when food prices keep going up and it’s costing farmers more and more to feed their livestock.
The costs of this Renewable Fuel Standard are too great. Rep. Bob Goodlatte is trying to fix what is broken, and I support his efforts to reform, and even eliminate, the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Christley understands the Constitution
RoxAnne Christley’s active role in the community is well documented.
I have known Christley for more than a decade. She deserves everyone’s vote.
I am tired of elected officials who campaign on one thing and seem to lose their spiritual, ethical and constitutional backbones once they get to office as they worry more about themselves than the good of their constituents.
This is where true dedication to a cause, love of country over self, and personal integrity play a role, and where Christley excels.
She is running because she loves this country and wants to improve everyone’s life.
She is a tireless worker who will address long-standing, difficult issues that others would leave dormant because of the efforts needed to fix them.
She is a good listener, going door-to-door throughout the district, learning what is important to constituents. I will be surprised if she misses a single house.
Her family lives within its means. This candidate knows we cannot spend more in government than we take in and will work to streamline government to save money and promote job growth.
She has integrity in abundance, and a constitutional backbone. She will get my vote on May 11.

Wowed by writer’s beautiful tribute
Three wows for Linda Hopkins’ April 27 commentary on Secretariat (“Some are born great”). Beautifully written.
Brought tears to my eyes; the good kind.
