Warning! They’ve got your number
Given all the controversy over our government’s collection of citizens’ electronic data, I would like to alert everyone to another secret government plot that invades our privacy.
Few people are aware that our federal government has plans to collect the Social Security numbers of every citizen!
The government will keep our very own, personal Social Security number on file indefinitely. This is an outrageous violation of our privacy.
What right does the government have to obtain our Social Security numbers? What might be done with this information?
Revelations expose danger of Patriot Act
“Terrorism” is not an acceptable excuse for our leaders to steal Americans’ civil liberties or privacy. There is no acceptable excuse. But all of our representatives in Washington have been using “terrorism” for 12 years to do exactly that.
We should not trust or permit the U.S. government to spy on us, or to commit any form of tyranny against any American who lives in this country or elsewhere.
The federal government has no constitutionally permitted purpose for its assault on American freedom. Furthermore, our private data is now stored where it may be hacked by our enemies, including China or Iran — or abused by others with official or unofficial access to it.
Edward Snowden revealed information about unconstitutional domestic spying that every American has the right to know. He deserves our thanks. He should not and must not be harassed, threatened or prosecuted by the U.S. government.
The enabling so-called Patriot Act is deeply flawed and should be gutted or repealed.
The White House and Congress cannot be trusted not to abuse it, or anything like it.
