Re: The May 29 news story about Montgomery County supervisors and renaming Blacksburg High School (“New high school may get more inclusive name”):
The Montgomery County supervisors’ vote to suggest a name change for Blacksburg High School may just be a dig at town politicians, but it presents a unique opportunity to rebrand the school after some tough years.
Instead of the boring names suggested by the supervisors, here are some that might capture the spirit of diversity they’re after:
Keep the Gym Roof High, Agenda 21 Academy, Hokie Elitist Prep, New River Hogwarts, The School for Unfunded Champions, or Central Tax Base High School.
The supervisors are right: Names are important, especially for shifting blame.
