The Oneida Indian Nation does not want to be called "Indians" or "Redskins," names given to them by Palefaces long before Washington had a football team.
Native Americans are neither Indian nor red-skinned and have no valid reason to object to the Washington Redskins' moniker other than political correctness.
I am one-eighth Southwest Virginia Native American and a huge Redskins fan for 60 years - and proud of both. When I was in Navy boot camp in 1953, a smart-mouthed little Paleface called me "Chief."
I just laughed and showed him my tomahawk, happy to be hailed as the head of my tribe. I would be happier, though, if the 'Skins could win a few more football games.
