Virginia Tech's Kendall Fuller (11) intercepts a pass intended for Duke's Jamison Crowder (3) during the second half of last week's game in Blacksburg.

Boston College at least does one thing particularly well: run the ball. Running back Andre Williams leads the ACC with 1,010 rushing yards, doing so behind a veteran offensive line. The passing game isn't very diversified, though. Quarterback Chase Rettig has hooked up with WR Alex Amidon for 46 receptions and 585 yards. But the next leading receiver, backup fullback Bobby Wolford, has only eight catches for 90 yards. Virginia Tech has all sorts of issues to iron out, although it largely goes as quarterback Logan Thomas goes. When he didn't throw an interception in the first three ACC games, Tech won all three somewhat comfortably. When he threw four picks against Duke, the Hokies lost.
DEFENSE: EDGE HOKIES
Tech's defense held the Blue Devils to less than 200 yards, forced four turnovers and didn't allow a completion in the second half. The Hokies should be at full strength on defense this week. Cornerbacks Kyle Fuller (groin) and Brandon Facyson (concussion) are back in the fold, joining Antone Exum and Kendall Fuller in a stocked secondary. Defensive end J.R. Collins is back from a one-game suspension. BC linebackers Kevin St. Pierre, Steele Divitto and Steven Daniels combine for an ACC-best 25.1 tackles per game.
SPECIAL TEAMS: EDGE EAGLES
BC lost punt returner Spiffy Evans for the year with a fractured clavicle, but Nate Freese does double duty, going 7 for 7 on field goals and averaging 41.9 yard per punt. The Hokies' only strength is A.J. Hughes, who leads the ACC with a 44.8-yard average. Tech's nine missed field goals this year are more than any other two ACC teams combined.
INTANGIBLES: EDGE HOKIES
Tech has won on its last two trips to Chestnut Hill, although neither game has been easy. Last year, the Hokies needed a late field goal just to force overtime, where they won on a Randall Dunn touchdown catch. Tech has won five straight in the series. BC is 3-1 at home this year, its only loss coming to Florida State.
PREDICTION: Virginia Tech 16, Boston College 10
