OFFENSE: EDGE TIGERS
Clemson senior quarterback Tajh Boyd has passed for 2,243 and 17 touchdowns, five more than any other ACC quarterback besides Florida State's Jameis Winston. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has 58 receptions for 813 yards and five TDs, while the Tigers' Roderick McDowell is fifth in the ACC in rushing, one spot behind UVa's Kevin Parks.
DEFENSE: EDGE TIGERS
Clemson junior defensive end Vic Beasley leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in sacks with 10 after posting an eight-sack season in 2012, good for fourth in the ACC. Clemson's defensive statistics are skewed by the 545 yards the Tigers yielded against Georgia and the 565 yards they gave up against Florida State. Both teams put up big passing numbers against Clemson.
SPECIAL TEAMS: EDGE TIGERS
The Tigers' Chandler Catanzaro is 9 of 10 on field goals for the year. Catanzaro has made 35 of 37 field-goal attempts over the past two seasons, as opposed to emergency Virginia place-kicker Alec Vozenilek, who has missed three of his last four attempts after a 6-for-6 start. Ian Frye, out three games with an injury, could resume those duties today.
INTANGIBLES: EDGE TIGERS
Although Clemson had a 16-13 lead over Maryland last week in the third quarter (before winning 40-27), the Tigers traditionally do not play down to their opposition. In each of its last 15 games against unranked teams, Clemson has been the winner by double digits. What's more, the Tigers have won seven straight road games, while Virginia already has lost four home games this year.
PREDICTION: Clemson 34, UVa 10
