ASHBURN — Redskins safety Reed Doughty will play this Sunday, a week after missing the Broncos game with a concussion.
He said he was disappointed he missed the trip to Denver, especially since he had several dozen friends and family in attendance, but wanted to make sure he did the right thing for his future health.
“Obviously it’s the doctor’s job to help you in every way possible, but as a player you have to be honest, and that’s what I was,” he said. “I really tried to get ready, and wanted to be ready, and tried to convince myself that I was ready. But at the end of the day, I wasn’t ready. I’m really disappointed I missed the game, but from a medical standpoint, I have no regrets.”
Doughty was officially listed as probable on Friday’s injury report, as was receiver Pierre Garcon.
The only player listed as questionable was safety Jose Gumbs, whose snaps will likely go to Bacarri Rambo regardless of Gumbs’ health.
