POTOMAC, Md. -- Right fielder Felix Sanchez hit a three-run homer, shortstop Deven Marrero pounded three doubles and third baseman Garin Cecchini went 4-for-4 as the Salem Red Sox broke into the win column for the 2013 season with a 7-6 win over the Potomac Nationals on Monday.
Sanchez' one-out blast scored catcher Blake Swihart and first baseman Nick Natoli to cap Salem's four-run second inning.
After Potomac got a run back in the bottom of the second off Sox starter Mike Augliera, Salem added a run in the fourth as Sanchez scored on a double by Sean Coyle.
The Sox scored two more runs in the fifth, with Brandon Jacobs' RBI double being the key hit.
Frederick scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and added solo runs in the seventh and eighth before Salem's Nate Striz came on in the ninth to record his first save.
Augliera (1-0) allowed seven hits and four earned runs in six innings.
