WILMINGTON, Del. -- With one swing, a game that had been tied since the fifth inning came to an abrupt end.
Cheslor Cuthbert launched a towering walk-off-homer in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Wilmington Blue Rocks a 3-2 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday at Frawley Stadium.
The Sox (12-12) got six solid innings from starter Kyle Kaminska but fell to Wilmington (11-15) for the second straight night.
Garin Cecchini went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Salem, raising his average to a Carolina League-leading .398 after a seventh straight multihit performance.
Daniel Mateo hit a two-out, two-run single in the third to give the Blue Rocks a 2-1 lead.
The Sox tied it in the fifth on Cecchini's run-scoring double.
ON DECK: Salem sends Mike Augliera to the mound in the finale of the four-game series at 6:35 p.m. today.
