PRINCETON, W.Va. - Second baseman Zach Shank was a one-man wrecking crew for Pulaski on Sunday, driving in both Mariners runs, including the game-winning home run in the ninth as Pulaski beat the Princeton Rays 2-1.
Shank went 3 for 4, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. His sixth-inning single drove in Gabrial Franca to tie the game. He also doubled in the fourth as he collected half the Mariners' six hits in the game.
The Rays jumped on top in the fourth on Bralin Jackson's second home run of the season. Jackson's lead-off shot came off Pulaski starter Edwin Diaz.
It was the only blemish in an otherwise solid outing for Diaz. He allowed seven hits and the one run over six innings, striking out five.
Reliever Gabe Saquilon (1-1) pitched the final three innings of hitless baseball for the Mariners to pick up the victory. He walked one and struck out two.
Princeton starter German Marquez was equally impressive, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out seven in five innings.
Reliever Essac Gil (1-1) took the loss for the Rays.
