INDEPENDENCE - Spencer Roberts hit a bases-load single in the bottom of the seventh inning to plate Luke Wilson for the winning run as Grayson County defeated Carroll County 4-3 in local baseball action Wednesday.
Matthew Cornette, Landon Frost and Dylan Isom drove in a run each for the Blue Devils (3-2).
Carroll County (3-1) tied the game in the top of the seventh on a pinch-hit squeeze bunt.
Isom pitched seven innings, striking out two and allowing four hits for the win.
Chilhowie 8, Galax 0
CHILHOWIE - Caleb Sheets had a pair of triples and drove in three runs to lead Chilhowie by Galax.
Sheets pitched five innings, struck out six and allowed four hits in the win for the Warriors (6-1).
Caleb Spurling and Stewart Merdian had two hits each for Galax (1-4).
Merdian gave up five runs on five hits over four innings in the loss.
Auburn 12, Fort Chiswell 9
MAX MEADOWS - Levi Bower went 3 for 5 with five RBIs and Auburn topped Fort Chiswell.
Caleb Link had a pair of hits for the undefeated Eagles (4-0).
Levi Mooney had three hits with two RBIs and Patrick Biedleman had three hits with one RBI for Fort Chiswell (3-2) .
Blacksburg 5, Radford 4
BLACKSBURG - Alex Pickrell went 3 for 4 and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Blacksburg bested Radford.
Tyler Berry had two hits and an RBI for Blacksburg (6-1).
Joey Sutphin had two RBIs on one hit for Radford (3-3) and Jacob Hobbs had two hits.
Eastern Montgomery 5, 5 inn.
ELLISTON - Covington scored 20 runs in the top of the first inning in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Steven Blevins singled, doubled, tripled and scored four times for the Cougars (3-5). Luke Crawford had three hits and scored five runs. Winning pitcher Colton Howard struck out six, walked two, and allowed four hits and two runs.
Josh Howard had two hits, scored twice and knocked in a run for EastMont (1-3).
Giles 8, James Monroe, W.Va. 7
PEARISBURG - Mark McIntyre's single with the bases load scored Lucas Stevers in the bottom of the seventh to give Giles the win.
Stevers hit a double and a solo home run for three RBIs. Drew Skewes drove in two runs on a single to give Giles (2-4-1) a 6-4 lead.
Ryan Page led James Monroe (W.Va.) with a pair of hits and an RBI.
Tyler Perdue struck out six over 2 2/3 innings for the win in relief of Hunter Epperley. Epperley struck out six and allowed two runs on two hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Reed McNeer struck out six and allowed five runs over six innings in the loss.
Lawrence Academy, N.C. 2, Jefferson Forest 0
TARBORO, N.C. - Darren Armstrong pitched a three-hitter for the winners as the Cavaliers dropped a game in the Tar Heel State.
Armstrong stuck out seven and walked just one batter. Cody Armstrong had an RBI-single as Lawrence Academy scored both runs in the first inning.
Taylor Bell had two hits for JF (5-2). Reliever Nate Williamson pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
William Byrd 14, Appomattox County 4, 6 inn.
LYNCHBURG - Collin Hill hit a two-run homer as part of a eight run fourth inning for William Byrd.
Hill finished the day with three hits and three total RBIs. Rustin Horne drove in three runs for Byrd (5-2), who won in six innings.
Dallas Turner had a solo homer for Appomattox County.
Sam Harron pitched six innings, striking out four and allowing seven hits for the win.
Rockbridge County 4, Heritage 0
LYNCHBURG - Ryan Coale pitched a complete game for Rockbridge, striking out 11 and giving up only five hits as the Wildcats shut out Heritage (1-4).
Coale also drove in two runs on a hit for Rockbridge (5-0).

Blacksburg 4, Christiansburg 0
BLACKSBURG - Geinda Smith had two goals as the Bruins beat the Blue Demons.
Smith also had an assist for Blacksburg (2-0, 1-0). Shane Mecham scored and Bruno Ramaj had a goal and an assist.
Keeper Joseph Pauli had 10 saves for Christiansburg (2-2, 0-1).
Radford 8, Pulaski County 0
DUBLIN - Carson Hooper and Ben Dalton scored two goals each as Radford downed Pulaski County.
Caleb Findley, Jake Grant, Sean Smith and Juan Perez scored a goal each for the Bobcats (3-0). Zach Turk had two assists and Nick Houchins added one as Radford led 5-0 at the half.
Matt Levison made three saves for Radford.
Auburn 5, Blacksburg 1
RINER - Olivia Cleary doubled in two runs in the fifth inning and Auburn's record remained perfect.
Sarah Smith scored twice and Ambers Sowers drove in a run for the Eagles (5-0).
Lauren Williams had an RBI for Blacksburg (3-1).
Amber Linkous allowed just one hit and one walk over five innings while striking out six in the win. Lilly Potts allowed seven hits and three walks in a complete game loss.
Chilhowie 12, Galax 0
CHILHOWIE - Chilhowie beat Galax in a game that was called after the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Kiki Murphy pitched allowed two hits in four innings of work for Chilhowie (2-4).
Ellen Vance had two hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Layken Thomas had two hits, a triple and two RBIs to lead the Warriors.
Nikki Boyles had a double for Galax (1-3).
Covington 4, Eastern Montgomery 3
ELLISTON - Autumn Phillips scored on a base hit in the top of the seventh to give Covington the win.
Kristina Huffman pitched a gem on the mound for Covington (1-7), striking out 12 and scattering seven hits over seven innings for the win. Huffman also had two singles and scored a run for the Cougars.
Taylor Lewis pitched a complete game, striking out five and allowing six hits for Eastern Montgomery (2-3). Lewis was 1 for 3 from the plate.
Carroll County 11, Pulaski County 2
DUBLIN - Cheyenne Strickland drove in three runs on four hits and scored twice for the visiting Cavaliers as they defeated the Cougars.
Autumn Hill had three RBIs and scored twice for Carroll County (2-2). Grace Davidson pitched a complete game and had five strikeouts, gave up eight hits, and walked two.
Kelli Duncan had a pair of hits and scored once for Pulaski County (1-3). Carli Brewer doubled and drove in a run. Brooke Hundley had a solo home run.
Radford 7, Fort Chiswell 2
RADFORD - Haley O'Brien struck out seven and allowed three hits as Radford defeated Fort Chiswell.
Amber Christley had five strikeouts and gave up two hits for Fort Chiswell.
Lindsey Graham had two hits and Julia Hopkins had an RBI double for Radford (2-2).
James Monroe, W.Va. 7, Narrows 2
NARROWS - Laine Shiftlett doubled twice, hit a home run, and drove in three runs for the visiting Mavericks as they defeated the Green Wave.
Megan Bailey had a double and drove in one run for James Monroe.
Kayln Neal, Sam Weatherly, and Cyndi Felts each had singles for Narrows (0-4-1). Pitcher Tiffany Perdue issued six strikeouts and three walks.
Tuesday's late game
Eastern Montgomery 9, Narrows 5
NARROWS - Chloe Phoenix hit a home run and added a double and single as Eastern Montgomery earned a win over Narrows on Tuesday night.
Lauren Honaker and Casey Whitt drove in two runs each for the Mustangs (2-2).
Danielle Williams hit a home run and a single to bring her RBI total to three on the day for Narrows.
Tayler Lewis struck out 10 and allowed three walks in the win. Tiffany Perdue struck out three for Narrows in the loss.
