Cole Hedge scored on a single by Zack McNally in the bottom of the seventh inning as Salem defeated visiting Blacksburg 5-4 in River Ridge District baseball.
Morgan McCoy led Blacksburg (8-5, 1-2) with three hits and scored on an error in the top of the seventh to give the Bruins a 4-3 lead.
The Spartans (5-5, 2-0) tied the game with a single by Hunter Allen to plate Christian Sowers . Allen and Zach Mineroldi had four hits each in the win.
Cody Dooley gave up eight hits over seven innings and struck out five for the win. Thomas Hughes struck out four and gave up 13 hits in the loss.
RIVER RIDGE DISTRICT
Hidden Valley 6, Christiansburg 2
Avery Pierce allowed two runs - one earned - and struck out six in six innings to lead the Titans past the Blue Demons.
Luke Marston came on with the bases loaded in the seventh and retired Christianburg's 2-3-4 hitters to notch the save.
Jack Moore had two hits and two RBI, and Ben Schmidt had two hits and an RBI to lead the Titans (8-3, 2-0).
Aaron Jackson had three hits and an RBI for Christiansburg (8-3, 1-2).
BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT
William Byrd 6, Northside 5
Timmy Meador's three-run homer in the top of the seventh lifted the Terriers to the come-from-behind victory over the Vikings.
Northside (7-5, 1-2) led 4-0 through four innings before Byrd's Collin Hill smacked a two-run homer in the fifth.
Byrd (8-3, 2-1) closed to 4-3 on Scott Spradlin's RBI hit.
Then Meador delivered the biggest hit of the night, jacking the ball over the fence with two teammates aboard to make it 6-4 Byrd.
Northside didn't go quietly, however. Tyler Wolfe ripped a two-run double off the fence in left-center to bring the hosts to 6-5.
Meador finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Hill went had two hits with two RBIs and a run. Wolfe also had two hits and two RBIs.
Lord Botetourt 6, Staunton River 0
MONETA - Michael Minnich and Matt Burd combined on a five-hit shutout as the Cavaliers downed the Golden Eagles (6-4, 1-2).
Minnich allowed only three hits in six innings. Burd then came on to notch the save, allowing two hits.
Zack Kelly and Conner Bronson each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Lord Botetourt. Ryan Oliver had a pair of hits and scored two runs for the Cavs (8-2, 2-1).
Alleghany 5, Rockbridge County 4
LOW MOOR - Derek O'Connor smashed a three-run home run to help the Mountaineers take an early 5-0 lead.
Kendall Kessinger pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and six strikeouts. Ethan Nicely and Nick Ferrell each had two hits for Alleghany (11-0, 3-0).
Colter Bennett launched a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning for Rockbridge County (5-5-1, 0-3-1).
Northwood 4, George Wythe 3
WYTHEVILLE - Austin Roberts went 2 for 3 and knocked in all four runs in the Panthers' victory.
Josh Williams had two hits in three at-bats for Northwood.
Paul Stanley had two hits and an RBI for George Wythe (1-9, 1-2). Cade Holliday had two RBIs on one hit.
Chilhowie 21, PH-Glade Spring 2, 5 innings
CHILHOWIE - T.J. Lewis and Caleb Sheets drove in five runs each as Chilhowie downed PH-Glade Spring in five innings.
Sheets had a pair of home runs, including a three-run inside the park shot as part of an 11-run first inning by the Warriors (10-1, 3-0). Lewis registered four hits and Reid Sturgill had three.
Randy Heldreth hit a two-run home run for the Rebels (1-8, 0-3).
Sheets also struck out 12 and gave up one hit over five innings in the win.
Bassett 7, Magna Vista 0
BASSETT - Kemper Terry allowed only two hits and struck out seven in five innings as Bassett defeated Magna Vista (2-6, 1-1).
Nick Keister and Samuel Stanbaugh each added a scoreless inning in relief to collaborate on a five-hit shutout.
Corey Gaylor had two hits and scored twice for Bassett (8-4, 2-1). Trevor Martin had an RBI double.
Jefferson Forest 7, Rustburg 4
RUSTBURG - Cal Hodgert had three hits and three RBIs for the visiting Cavaliers as they beat the Red Devils.
Drew Phemister had two hits and two RBIs for Jefferson Forest (10-3, 5-1). J.R. Breeden had seven strikeouts, and gave up no walks, hits, or runs in five innings.
Dakota Minnix had two hits and two RBIs for Rustburg (7-5, 3-3). Austin West had a hit and two RBIs.
THREE RIVERS DISTRICT
Floyd County 5, Auburn 4
FLOYD - Gus Underwood drew his second walk of the game to bring in Dustin Faulkner for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Underwood finished with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Buffaloes (7-6, 4-0). Floyd County drew 14 walks in the contest.
Cody Akers led Auburn (8-2, 3-1) with a two-RBI single.
Underwood pitched seven innings, striking out five and surrendering seven hits.
Patrick County 6, Carroll County 3
HILLSVILLE - Nick Dalton pitched a complete game, allowed two earned runs on five hits and eight strikeouts, and had three hits at the plate including a double with an RBI as the Cougars held off the Blue Devils.
Chase Davis also had two hits and an RBI for Patrick County (4-7).
Seth Burris took the loss, allowing one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts. Reece Edwards had a single, RBI and a stolen base for Carroll County (4-4).
North Cross 18, Roanoke Valley Christian 2, 5 innings
Tanner McCoy was 3 for 4 with five RBIs and Nate Richardson knocked in four runs as the Raiders routed the Eagles in a game stopped after five inning because of the 10-run rule.
Edwin Saunders earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out five for North Cross (6-5).
Parry McCluer 11, Eastern Montgomery 4
BUENA VIST A - Christian Camden allowed five hits and struck out nine in six innings as the Fighting Blues rolled past the Mustangs.
Cameron Wheeler was 3 for 4 with a doubl e and scored two runs for Parry McCluer (4-4). Cody Buchanan had two hits and two RBIs.
Kendall Sisson and Colin Smith each had a hit and scored a run for Eastern Montgomery (1-7).
RIVER RIDGE DISTRICT
Patrick Henry 12, Salem 9
Sam Boxley had six goals as Patrick Henry defeated Salem.
Thomas Vance had two goals and three assists for Patrick Henry (5-3, 2-1). Will Adams and Joe Clifton each had a goal and an assist. Blake Anderson and Christian Blackwell also scored. Hunter Godsey had 13 saves.
Joe Robertson and Connor Sampson had two goals apiece for Salem (7-2, 3-2).
Rockbridge County 16, William Fleming 3
LEXINGTON - Keely Fresh's four goals paced Rockbridge to a district win over William Fleming.
Sydney Garvis, Virginia Paulk and Taylor Sokolowski scored twice each for Rockbridge. Seven other players added one goal.
Tia Brown, Aniah Franklin and Najae Stokes scored for William Fleming (0-8, 0-3).
Marley Goetz made eight saves for the Wildcats and Dakota Arbogast stopped nine shots for the Colonels.
BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT
Lord Botetourt 4, Staunton River 0
DALEVILLE - Colby Adams had one goal and two assists to lead the Cavaliers over the Golden Eagles.
Sam Austin, Cory Cosner, and Anthony Lepore each had a goal for Lord Botetourt (6-3, 3-0). Robert Switzer had six saves.
Michael Stump had nine saves for Staunton River (2-4, 0-3).
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE DISTRICT
Galax 3, Grayson County 1
GALAX - Edgar Guzman scored two goals and Galax rallied from a 1-0 deficit to remain undefeated.
Junior Espinosa assisted 2 of 3 goals for Galax (8-0, 2-0).
Andres Medina had a goal. Mesiel Solis had four saves.
RIVER RIDGE DISTRICT
Blacksburg 5, Salem 0
Garland Smith tallied two first-half goals to lead Blacksburg to a win on the road.
Mitchell Williams, Sebi Brown and Krish Puri had a goal each for the Bruins (5-0-2, 2-0-1) in the second half. Blacksburg had three keepers combine for three saves.
Andrew Franklin had 10 saves for Salem (4-3-1, 1-1).
Jefferson Forest 7, Rustburg 0
RUSTBURG - Ryan Harvey had a goal and two assists for the Cavaliers as they defeated the Red Devils.
Aaron Crance, Ben Cavanaugh, Doug Dickerson, Jake Jennings, and Guccio Vagnarelli each had a goal for Jefferson Forest (6-1-2, 4-1-1). Daniel Bryant had a goal and an assist. Matt Weakley had an assist.
Zach Burnette had five saves for Rustburg (2-5).
Northside 4, Cave Spring 3, 2 OT
Richie St. Pierre netted the winning goal on an assist from Bryce Wilson in the second overtime period to give visiting Northside the win.
Will Bradley notched one goal and Kyle Gunville scored twice for Cave Spring (4-2).
Northside (3-5-1) trailed 3-1 before forcing overtime.
Sam Krizner netted two for the Vikings and Trey Noell added another. Jamie Camper added an assist and Wilson had a pair of helpers.
Zach Large stopped eight shots for Northside.
Adam Sledd made six saves for Cave Spring.
BLUE RIDGE CONFERENCE
North Cross 5, Chatham Hall 0
CHATHAM - Lissa Smith registered three goals as North Cross blanked Chatham Hall.
Anna Roberson and Campbell Lake added one goal each for the Raiders (10-0, 7-0), who led 2-0 at the half.
Gussie Revercomb made five saves for North Cross. Baleigh Hicks stopped 12 shots for Chatham Hall.
Roanoke Valley Christian 10, Stuart Hall 0
Mckenzie Prillaman, A.J. Clay and Tiara Flood scored two goals each to lift Roanoke Valley Christian to a win.
Beth Snyder, Emily Jo Hufford and Ruthie Clay had one goal each for the Eagles, who led 5-0 at the half.
Lainey Register made seven saves for Roanoke Valley Christian (7-3).
James River 5, Floyd County 0
FLOYD - Kendall Moyer had a hat trick to lead James River past Floyd (1-7).
Alex Wolfe and Emily Amos each had a goal for the Knights (5-3).
Dayspring Christian 8, Christian Heritage 0
BLACKSBURG - Johannah Buehrer, Leah Hairfield, and Morgan Saulfly each scored two goals to lead Dayspring Christian.
Sara Albano and Meili Johnson each had a goal for the Lions (8-1). Faith Buehrer and Geneva Hutchinson each had two assists.
Gloria Wood had 14 saves for Christian Heritage (0-4-1).
Cave Spring 1, Northside 0
Lauren Joiner scored on a header at the 50-minute mark to as the Knights downed the Vikings.
Lauren Huff hit Joiner on a cross pass and the latter beat Vikings goalkeeper Kelsey Altizer for the game's only score. Altizer made 12 saves in net for the Vikings (4-3-2).
Haley Mitchell had two saves in recording the shutout for Cave Spring (3-3-2).
BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT
Lord Botetourt 7, Staunton River 0
DALEVILLE - Meaghan Catron's two-run double helped Lord Botetourt to a home win.
Aubrie Jessee drove in two runs and had a triple, while Skylar Dull had two hits with a run for Botetourt (9-2, 3-0).
Macy Arthur and Taylor Creasy had one hit each for Staunton River (4-7, 0-3).
Kendra Wood struck out eight and had two hits over seven innings in the win. Creasy gave up 11 hits over four innings in the loss.
Alleghany 7, Rockbridge County 3
LEXINGTON - Savannah Beard had a two run home run for the visiting Mountaineers.
Beard also had three hits and four RBIs for Alleghany (9-1, 2-1). Maegan Walton had two hits, two RBIs with a double, and three runs scored.
Chilhowie 14, PH-Glade Spring 3, 5 innings
GLADE SPRING - Mary Luttrell had three hits, including a triple, scored three runs and drove in five to lead the Warriors over the Rebels in five innings.
Kiki Murphy also had two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs for Chilhowie (4-9, 2-1).
Hannah Compton got the win, pitching all five innings and allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four.
RIVER RIDGE DISTRICT
Christiansburg 10, Hidden Valley 0
CHRISTIANSBURG - Tiffany Brown struck out seven, gave up five hits and hammered a three-run home run for Christiansburg.
Olivia Dunbar and Makennah Hellman had three hits each, while Brittany Campbell and Chelsea Sheppard added two each for the Blue Demons (4-5, 1-2).
Savannah Kramer and Mary Walters had two hits each for Hidden Valley (2-7, 0-2).
Sophia Robinette pitched four innings in the loss.
Salem 3, Blacksburg 2
BLACKSBURG - Sarah LaFrancois laced a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to give the Spartans the lead for good.
Samantha Smith pitched a complete game for Salem (4-6, 2-0), allowing two earned runs and four hits while striking out seven.
Lilly Potts pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five, as well as smacking an RBI triple at the plate for Blacksburg (6-3, 2-1).
Allana Flad also had two hits and a run scored for the Bruins.
Cave Spring 5, Franklin County 3
Abby Beatty and Kortney Cooper each hit a solo home run and had two hits for host Cave Spring.
Caitlyn Williams drove in two runs for the Knights (7-4).
Lindsey Barbour and Mackenzie Chitwood had two hits each for Franklin County (6-5).
Taylor Asimakopoulos pitched seven innings and struck out nine in the win.
Hailey Saul gave up six hits and struck out five over six innings in the loss.
Parry McCluer 9, Eastern Montgomery 1
BUENA VISTA - The Fighting Blues scored four runs in the first and went on to defeat Eastern Montgomery.
Ashley Austin and Makaylin Higgins each had two RBIs for Parry McCluer (7-2). Logan Buzzard and Mackenzie Wheeler each scored two runs and had a hit. Pitcher Ragen Smith had three strikeouts, gave up seven hits, and walked two in seven innings.
Chloe Phoenix had a triple for Eastern Montgomery (3-6) and Mikayla Phoenix scored the only run.
Craig County sweeps William Fleming
NEW CASTLE - Ashley Dudding fired a two-hit shutout in the opener of a doubleheader as Craig County defeated William Fleming 4-0.
Morgan Sowers notched the 4-2 win in the nightcap as the Rockets swept the Colonels.
Jordan Frango and Brittany Austin each went 2 for 3 to lead the Rockets in the first game. LeeAnn Mattox was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Melia Hutton smacked a home run and a triple and had two RBIs to lead the attack in the nightcap. Frango had a triple and Dudding a double in the win.
Shanta Morgan went the distance on the mound in both games for Fleming.
United Christian 2, Roanoke Valley Christian 1
Brittany Galop took the loss as Roanoke Valley Christian (2-3) fell to United Christian.
Roanoke Valley Christian's team score of 196 earned the Eagles a win on the front nine of Old Monterrey.
Dayspring Christian came in second with a score of 225 and Parkway Christian in third at 229.
Roanoke Valley Christian's Jonathan Webb earned medalist honors with a score of 46.
LATE WEDNESDAY: SOFTBALL
Patrick County 5, Dan River 4
STUART - Logan Martin drove in Briana Steele for the winning run for Patrick County in eight innings.
Steele led the Cougars (5-6) with three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Beth Williams, Julia Hutchens and Martin each had two hits.
Whitney Scott threw four innings and gave up six hits in the win.
