LYNCHBURG - Ronnie Stringfield rushed for 124 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Virginia Episcopal to a 43-21 win over North Cross on Monday in a contest that took two days to complete.
The game was suspended because of lightning midway through the third quarter on Saturday afternoon.
North Cross (0-1) trailed 30-21 at the time and had the football on the VES 15.
But the Raiders were unable to get points out of the drive, and the Bishops - the defending VISAA Division III champions - tacked on 13 more points to put North Cross away.
North Cross finished with five turnovers and never recovered after not scoring when play resumed.
North Cross got on the board in the first quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run by quarterback Max Revercomb, who completed 12 of 21 passes for 161 yards.
Joseph Cartledge and Ryan Dent also had TD runs for the North Cross.
Penn Draper rushed for 46 yards for the Raiders, and also caught three passes for 46 yards.
Dent caught four passes for 93 yards.
