Radford's RJ Jordan dives over the goal line to score a touchdown against Glenvar's Seth Thompson on Friday.

RJ Jordan found the end zone four times Friday night as Radford outlasted host Glenvar 40-28 in a crucial Three Rivers District matchup.
“We’re trying to get better,” Radford coach Matthew Saunders said. “We’ve got a lot of kids back, we’re a little healthy. We knew it was going to be tough. Glenvar does a good job. We knew they’d have the ball a little bit and try to control the ball at home. We just try to put our athletes in space and it was a big win for us.”
After a costly red zone fumble late in last week’s game against Giles, Jordan rebounded for a career performance.
“It feels great to come off of that feeling that I cost us the game,” he said. “To come back and step up … it was wonderful.”
The Bobcats racked up 415 yards of offense, paced by Jordan and quarterback Marcus Finley, who completed 13 of 16 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns.
Radford jumped on the board first, midway through the first quarter. Jordan flashed some agility along the sideline, dodging several Glenvar defenders en route to a 33-yard touchdown run.
The Highlanders answered on the next play from scrimmage, as quarterback Levi Mullins threw a bomb to Jeremy Martin for an 80-yard score.
After forcing the Bobcats to punt, Glenvar took over at its own 26-yard line and went 74 yards in nine plays to take the lead. Mullins found Remington Stanley over the middle on third-and-goal for a 10-yard touchdown and a 14-7 lead.
Radford tied the score as Finley found the end zone from 3 yards out on a scramble with just over a minute to play in the half.
Jordan scored again on the Bobcats’ first possession of the second half, blazing by the Highlander defense for a 41-yard score.
“RJ played big tonight,” Saunders said. “He was actually a little sick this afternoon, and we were worried about him, whether he was going to be able to play or not, and he stepped up.”
The Highlanders answered once again, this time with a drive that took more than seven minutes off the clock and ended in a 15-yard touchdown run by Tyler Smith — who finished with 97 yards rushing — and a 21-20 lead.
But Finley threw touchdown passes on three of Radford’s next four possessions. With the Bobcats leading 26-21 early in the fourth quarter, Finley called a hook-and-ladder that he and his teammates executed to perfection for a 26-yard score.
Finley hit D’Andre Cook on a curl route. Cook then lateraled the ball to Jordan, who took it in for his third touchdown of the night.
“That was the kids’ call,” Saunders said. “We’d been working on it. We actually ran it against Giles and we ran it wrong. The kids said, ‘We’ve got it, we’ve got it, let’s do it right here.’ ”
It was the first time Radford had success running that play this season.
“We’ve never seen them do that,” said Glenvar coach Kevin Clifford. “But they’ve done stuff like against us for the last seven years. We expected something a little different in that situation based on what they’d done on film.”
A few plays after Mullins found Zack Clifford for an 8-yard score with just under two minutes to play, the Bobcats were facing third-and-3 from the Glenvar 47-yard line.
The Highlanders had no timeouts, but Finley gambled with a pass on a play in which he had an option to run the ball and keep the clock moving.
Jordan caught the swing pass from his quarterback and took it the rest of the way to seal the win for the visitors.
