TOWN OF BLACKSBURG - NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS BLACKSBURG TOWN COUNCIL will hold public hearings on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 South Main Street, Blacksburg, regarding the following items: 1. Ordinance #1961 - An Ordinance Repealing Superceded Telephone Taxes At Town Code Sections 22-400(B) And 22-800. This ordinance will repeal outdated sections of the Town Code based on state legislation that replaced certain local taxes on telephone services. 2. Ordinance #1962 - An Ordinance To Amend The FY2020/2021 Operating Budget By Reappropriating Prior Year CDBG And HOME Revenues And Appropriating Additional CDBG CARES Revenue. This will reappropriate prior year funds that were previously appropriated and not spent in that fiscal year to be spent in accordance with the Annual Action Plans for use of the federal funds. 3. Ordinance #1963 - An Ordinance Amending Town Code Section 5-200 Regarding The Town Leash Requirement To Eliminate The Use Of Electronic Leashes And Revise The Penalty For Violations. This will amend the Town's leash law by eliminating the use of electronic leashes and revising the penalty for violations as a Class 4 misdemeanor. 4. Conditional Use Permit - 202 and 250 South Main Street. Request to combine previously approved Conditional Use Permits at Kent Square to increase the maximum allowed ground floor medical and general office square footage in the Downtown Commercial (DC) Zoning District. If granted, this request will combine two previously approved CUPs to achieve an increase in the maximum allowed ground floor Medical and General Office square footage at Kent Square and Kent Square North. All persons affected by or interested in the proposed ordinances and conditional use permit request may appear and present their views. In compliance with Public Health Emergency social distancing protocols, seating in the Council Chambers will be limited. Citizens are encouraged, but not required, to submit comments to the Town Council by e-mail and stream the hearings live online at www.blacksburg.gov or watch the meeting live on Comcast Cable TV, WTOB Channel 2. After each public hearing, Town Council will consider action on the item. Copies of the item scheduled for public hearing are on file and can be obtained in the Office of the Town Clerk, 300 South Main Street, Blacksburg, weekdays between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm.
