Roanoke man, 38, dies in Bedford County motorcycle crash

A Roanoke man died Friday night after he crashed his motorcycle into a utility pole in Bedford County, according to state police.

Christopher Reed Routh, 38, was driving a 2007 Honda 750 motorcycle westbound on Virginia 634, just east of Virginia 760, when he crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road, striking a culvert and hitting the utility pole, about 7:45 p.m., according to a news release.

Routh was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, the news release said.
