Reunited 1990s hitmaking band Toad the Wet Sprocket is scheduled to play Harvester Performance Center on May 30. Roanoke band The Floorboards opens the show.
To advance the concert, I interviewed Toad bassist Dean Dinning today. Turns out, he's got music in his family line. A lot of it. Three aunts sang at The Dinning Sisters in the 1940s, and Dean's father managed the act. One of those sisters, Jean, co-wrote with her husband the song "Teen Angel."
And Dean's uncle, Mark Dinning, made "Teen Angel" a No. 1 hit in 1960. Check out the video we've attached to see if you remember that hit, which got a second life in the 1970s as part of the "American Graffiti" soundtrack.
My story with Dean Dinning is scheduld for May 26. Keep an eye out for it.
