Virginia Tech announced Friday that it will begin to offer a bachelor of science degree in public health.
The State Council of High Education for Virginia approved the program in September, and the Council on Education for Public Health in October added it as an accredited degree.
The degree will be offered through the public health program in the Department of Population Health Sciences in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. The department officers a master’s and graduated certificate program in public health through a partnership with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
The new bachelor program is the vet school’s first undergraduate degree program.
