Med Beat: Health Wagon sets free health fair for March

The Health Wagon will host a health fair offering free exams and and testing on March 6 in Wise and on March 7 in Clintwood.

Participants will be offered physical exams; lab work that includes cholesterol levels, PSAs, blood sugar and pap smears. Vision and hearing exams will be offered, as well as prostate exams, ankle ; cholesterol checks, PSAs, blood sugar checks, pap smears, vision testing, hearing exams, prostate exams, ankle brachial tests, pulmonology consults, lung-function testing and cardiovascular-risk screenings, massages and chiropractic services.

The Health Wagon said in a news release that ultrasound and chest x-ray will also be offered.

Information in enrolling in Virginia's expanded Medicaid program will also be available.

The health fairs will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Zion Family Ministries in Wise on March 6 and at EnerVest, Happy Valley in Clintwood on March 7.

Those planning to have lab work should not eat or drink after midnight.
