Here is the press release from the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Officer Ronald Robinson of the Roanoke City Police Department was recognized as Officer of Year for 2011 by the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. Officer Robinson was commended for his part in apprehending suspects in an armed robbery.
In October, Officer Robinson was on foot patrol when he heard a gunshot. He ran toward the sound of the gunfire and after speaking to the victims of an armed robbery was able to alert other officers and give them a description of the suspect and vehicle. Because of Officer Robinson’s quick observations and bravery for jeopardizing his own safety to protect his fellow citizens, no one was injured in the incident, and three suspects in a violent crime were arrested and charged.
