With opening night just over a month away, the Salem Red Sox are doing their part to try to stir up some spring fever.
The teams unveiled their 2015 uniforms March 4. There is still a home white, road gray and alternate jerseys for both home and road, but the jerseys are designed to more closely resemble the team's Major League affiliate in Boston.
The club plans to don special uniforms at several games this season, including Freedom Fridays, during which the team will honor military men and women at select Friday games. Additionally, they will bring back the pink uniforms on Mother's Day weekend to support breast cancer awareness, have a special design for "Back to the Future" night July 18 and roll back to the 1990s and early 2000s with a look honoring the Salem Avalanche.
The uniforms will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Salem baseball at Lewis-Gale Field with a patch on the right sleeve.
The Salem Red Sox home opener is scheduled for April 16 at 7:05 p.m. against the Carolina Mudcats.
