A two-vehicle crash in Craig County killed a man and sent two others to the hospital Saturday morning.
The crash happened on Virginia 611 shortly before noon, a half-mile west of Virginia 609.
A 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was driving east at a high speed on Virginia 611 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup head-on in the westbound lane, according to a news release from Virginia State Police.
Police said the Chevrolet was driven by Jesse Lee Brookman, 21, of Covington, who died at the scene. Jeremy W. Phillips, 22, of Covington, was a passenger in the Chevrolet and was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the release said. Police do not believe either person was wearing a seat belt.
The Ford was driven by George M. Ledford, 65, of Covington, who was flown from the scene to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to the release. Police said Ledford was also not wearing a seat belt.
