Appalachian Power Co. is working to restore electricity lost to about 600 customers today in Franklin County.
Power should be restored by about 10:30 a.m., utility spokeswoman Teresa Hamilton Hall said. As of noon, 159 customers were without power.
A utility pole fire was blamed on the outage, which affected two parts of the county.
But based on severe weather forecasts for later today, Hall said Appalachian officials are preparing for possible storm-related outages throughout the region.
