The 11th annual Radford High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony weekend is set for Friday, Aug. 31, and Saturday, Sept. 1, in Radford.

There will be six new inductees into the Hall of Fame Class at Radford High School. They are: athlete and contributor John H. Giesen (Class of 1975); Coach Dr. Harold Absher (1967-1970); athlete Michelle (Ames) Schafer (Class of 1988); athlete Andrew J. Hall (Class of 1989; athlete Brenda (Snell) Motley (Class of 1979); and athlete Jakie R. Slusher (Class of 1964).

The ceremony begins with the inductees, along with their families, being served dinner by Sal’s Restaurant in the school’s cafeteria at 5 p.m. Friday. The 11th Hall of Fame class will be recognized during halftime of the Radford Bobcats football game against the Galax Maroons at Bobcat Stadium/Norman G. Lineburg Field. Game time is 7 p.m.

The 11th Hall of Fame class will meet on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. in the RHS library for group and individual photos. The class will then be officially inducted at a ceremony in the school auditorium beginning at 5 p.m. The general public is invited to meet the newest members of the Hall of Fame at this ceremony. All past RHS Hall of Famers are also welcome to attend the induction ceremony.

Athletes, coaches and contributors from any of Radford High School’s programs may be nominated to the Hall of Fame once they reach certain eligibility parameters, including years of service or time elapsed since graduation, as well as their achievements for the RHS athletics program.
