JONES Sr. David Robert September 13, 1929 - March 1, 2019 David Robert (Bob) Jones Sr., of Vinton, Va., went with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019, while in the company of his loving family. He was born in Cambria, Va., on September 13, 1929, to Blanche and Wendell Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara S. Jones; his son, David R. Jones Jr. and wife, Freda; his daughter, Debby Boyle; and grandchildren, Catherine Jones, Robert Jones, Brian Boyle and John Connor Boyle. David was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Boyle. He graduated from Emory and Henry College going into education. After several years teaching and coaching in Giles County, David was drafted into the Korean War. David married Barbara Ann Sink of Vinton in 1953. He was employed by McKesson & Robbins in Roanoke and later with Owens and Minor in Richmond. After 40 years in Richmond, they returned to the Vinton area. David was an active outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, golf, and feed his birds around the house. He was one of the original members of the Star City Hunt Club. In Richmond, David was also very active with the Tuckahoe Lions Club. David will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor B. Failes officiating. A private burial will occur at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
